أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِى حَآجَّ إِبْرَٰهِۦمَ فِى رَبِّهِۦٓ أَنْ ءَاتَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُلْكَ إِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَٰهِۦمُ رَبِّىَ ٱلَّذِى يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ قَالَ أَنَا۠ أُحْىِۦ وَأُمِيتُ ۖ قَالَ إِبْرَٰهِۦمُ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَأْتِى بِٱلشَّمْسِ مِنَ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ فَأْتِ بِهَا مِنَ ٱلْمَغْرِبِ فَبُهِتَ ٱلَّذِى كَفَرَ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ ﴿258﴾
Have you not considered the one who argued with Abraham about his Lord [merely] because Allah had given him kingship? When Abraham said, "My Lord is the one who gives life and causes death," he said, "I give life and cause death." Abraham said, "Indeed, Allah brings up the sun from the east, so bring it up from the west." So the disbeliever was overwhelmed [by astonishment], and Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.

← read from right to left1Did notأَلَمْalamCBHINTG+NEGأَis it? / did?+لَمْNot 4The one whoالَّذِيalladhiI 6With abrahamإِبْرَاهِيمَibrahimaI 8His LordرَبِّهِrabbihiCBIN+PRONATTرَبِّHis Lord+هِhim / his / it 10Gave himآتَاهُatahuCBFV+PRONATTآتَاGave+هُhim / his / it 12The kingdomالْمُلْكَl-mulkaIالthe+مُلْكَKingdom 15AbrahamإِبْرَاهِيمُibrahimuI 16My LordرَبِّيَrabbiyaCBIN+PRONATTرَبِّMy Lord+يَme / my 17Is the one whoالَّذِيalladhiI 18Grants lifeيُحْيِيyuhyiF 19And causes deathوَيُمِيتُwayumituCBFCONJ+Vوَand+يُمِيتُCauses death 23And cause deathوَأُمِيتُwa-umituCBFCONJ+Vوَand+أُمِيتُCause death 25AbrahamإِبْرَاهِيمُibrahimuI 26[then] indeedفَإِنَّfa-innaCBHCONJ+ACCفَso / then+إِنَّ[then] indeed 29The sunبِالشَّمْسِbil-shamsiCBIP+Nبِwith / in+الthe+شَمْسِSun 31The eastالْمَشْرِقِl-mashriqiIالthe+مَشْرِقِEast 32So you bringفَأْتِfa-tiCBFCONJ+Vفَso / then+ائْتِYou bring 35The westالْمَغْرِبِl-maghribiIالthe+مَغْرِبِWest 36So became dumbfoundedفَبُهِتَfabuhitaCBFCONJ+Vفَso / then+بُهِتَBecame dumbfounded 37The one whoالَّذِيalladhiI 38DisbelievedكَفَرَkafaraF 39And Allahوَاللَّهُwal-lahuCBICONJ+PNوَand+اللَّهُAllah 42The peopleالْقَوْمَl-qawmaIالthe+قَوْمَPeople 43Who are [the] wrongdoersالظَّالِمِينَl-zaliminaIالthe+ظَالِمِينَWho are [the] wrongdoers أَوْ كَٱلَّذِى مَرَّ عَلَىٰ قَرْيَةٍ وَهِىَ خَاوِيَةٌ عَلَىٰ عُرُوشِهَا قَالَ أَنَّىٰ يُحْىِۦ هَٰذِهِ ٱللَّهُ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا ۖ فَأَمَاتَهُ ٱللَّهُ مِا۟ئَةَ عَامٍ ثُمَّ بَعَثَهُۥ ۖ قَالَ كَمْ لَبِثْتَ ۖ قَالَ لَبِثْتُ يَوْمًا أَوْ بَعْضَ يَوْمٍ ۖ قَالَ بَل لَّبِثْتَ مِا۟ئَةَ عَامٍ فَٱنظُرْ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِكَ وَشَرَابِكَ لَمْ يَتَسَنَّهْ ۖ وَٱنظُرْ إِلَىٰ حِمَارِكَ وَلِنَجْعَلَكَ ءَايَةً لِّلنَّاسِ ۖ وَٱنظُرْ إِلَى ٱلْعِظَامِ كَيْفَ نُنشِزُهَا ثُمَّ نَكْسُوهَا لَحْمًا ۚ فَلَمَّا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُۥ قَالَ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ ﴿259﴾
Or [consider such an example] as the one who passed by a township which had fallen into ruin. He said, "How will Allah bring this to life after its death?" So Allah caused him to die for a hundred years; then He revived him. He said, "How long have you remained?" The man said, "I have remained a day or part of a day." He said, "Rather, you have remained one hundred years. Look at your food and your drink; it has not changed with time. And look at your donkey; and We will make you a sign for the people. And look at the bones [of this donkey] - how We raise them and then We cover them with flesh." And when it became clear to him, he said, "I know that Allah is over all things competent."

And [mention] when Abraham said, "My Lord, show me how You give life to the dead." [Allah] said, "Have you not believed?" He said, "Yes, but [I ask] only that my heart may be satisfied." [Allah] said, "Take four birds and commit them to yourself. Then [after slaughtering them] put on each hill a portion of them; then call them - they will come [flying] to you in haste. And know that Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise."
