Surah 2 · Ruku 18 of 40 · ayahs 148–152 · Juz 2 · page 23 · Madani

وَلِكُلٍّ وِجْهَةٌ هُوَ مُوَلِّيهَا ۖ فَٱسْتَبِقُوا۟ ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ ۚ أَيْنَ مَا تَكُونُوا۟ يَأْتِ بِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ جَمِيعًا ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ ﴿148﴾

For each [religious following] is a direction toward which it faces. So race to [all that is] good. Wherever you may be, Allah will bring you forth [for judgement] all together. Indeed, Allah is over all things competent.

And for everyoneوَلِكُلٍّCBICONJ+P+Nوَand+لِfor / to+كُلٍّEveryone

Is a directionوِجْهَةٌI

HeهُوَI

Turns towards itمُوَلِّيهَاCBIN+PRONATTمُوَلِّيTurns towards+هَاher / it / its

So raceفَاسْتَبِقُواCBFCONJ+Vفَso / then+اسْتَبِقُواRace

To the goodالْخَيْرَاتِIالthe+خَيْرَاتِTo the good

WhereverأَيْنَH

ThatمَاH

You will beتَكُونُواF

Will bringيَأْتِF

YouبِكُمُCBHP+PRONATTبِwith / in+كُمُyou / your (pl.)

By AllahاللَّهُI

TogetherجَمِيعًاI

IndeedإِنَّH

AllahاللَّهَI

Is onعَلَىH

EveryكُلِّI

ThingشَيْءٍI

All powerfulقَدِيرٌI

2:149

وَمِنْ حَيْثُ خَرَجْتَ فَوَلِّ وَجْهَكَ شَطْرَ ٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ ۖ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ ۗ وَمَا ٱللَّهُ بِغَٰفِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ ﴿149﴾

So from wherever you go out [for prayer, O Muhammad] turn your face toward al- Masjid al-Haram, and indeed, it is the truth from your Lord. And Allah is not unaware of what you do.

WhereverحَيْثُI

[so] turnفَوَلِّCBFCONJ+Vفَso / then+وَلِّ[so] turn

In the directionشَطْرَI

Of al masjidالْمَسْجِدِIالthe+مَسْجِدِOf al masjid

Al haraamالْحَرَامِIالthe+حَرَامِAl haraam

And indeed itوَإِنَّهُCBHCONJ+ACC+PRONATTوَand+إِنَّIndeed+هُhim / his / it

Is surely the truthلَلْحَقُّCBILAM+Nلَلْfor the+حَقُّIs surely the truth

FromمِنْH

Your LordرَبِّكَCBIN+PRONATTرَبِّYour Lord+كَyou / your

And notوَمَاCBHCONJ+NEGوَand+مَاNot

Is AllahاللَّهُI

UnawareبِغَافِلٍCBIP+Nبِwith / in+غَافِلٍUnaware

Of whatعَمَّاCBIP+RELعَنabout / from=مَاwhat

You doتَعْمَلُونَF

2:150

وَمِنْ حَيْثُ خَرَجْتَ فَوَلِّ وَجْهَكَ شَطْرَ ٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ ۚ وَحَيْثُ مَا كُنتُمْ فَوَلُّوا۟ وُجُوهَكُمْ شَطْرَهُۥ لِئَلَّا يَكُونَ لِلنَّاسِ عَلَيْكُمْ حُجَّةٌ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ فَلَا تَخْشَوْهُمْ وَٱخْشَوْنِى وَلِأُتِمَّ نِعْمَتِى عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ ﴿150﴾

And from wherever you go out [for prayer], turn your face toward al-Masjid al-Haram. And wherever you [believers] may be, turn your faces toward it in order that the people will not have any argument against you, except for those of them who commit wrong; so fear them not but fear Me. And [it is] so I may complete My favor upon you and that you may be guided.

In its directionشَطْرَهُCBILOC+PRONATTشَطْرَIn its direction+هُhim / his / it

So that notلِئَلَّاCBHP+SUBلِfor / to+أَنْthat=لَاnot

Will beيَكُونَF

For the peopleلِلنَّاسِCBIP+Nلِلfor the+نَاسِPeople

Against youعَلَيْكُمْCBHP+PRONATTعَلَىAgainst+كُمْyou / your (pl.)

Any argumentحُجَّةٌI

ExceptإِلَّاHإِنْif=لَاnot

Those whoالَّذِينَI

WrongedظَلَمُواF

Among themمِنْهُمْCBHP+PRONATTمِنْAmong+هُمْthem / their

So do notفَلَاCBHCONJ+PROفَso / then+لَاDo not

Fear themتَخْشَوْهُمْCBFV+PRONATTتَخْشَوْFear+هُمْthem / their

But fear meوَاخْشَوْنِيCBFCONJ+V+PRONATTوَand+اخْشَوْBut fear+نِيme

And that i completeوَلِأُتِمَّCBFCONJ+P+Vوَand+لِfor / to+أُتِمَّThat i complete

My favorنِعْمَتِيCBIN+PRONATTنِعْمَتِMy favor+يme / my

Upon youعَلَيْكُمْCBHP+PRONATTعَلَىUpon+كُمْyou / your (pl.)

[and] so that you mayوَلَعَلَّكُمْCBHCONJ+ACC+PRONATTوَand+لَعَلَّ[and] so that you may+كُمْyou / your (pl.)

Be guidedتَهْتَدُونَF

2:151

كَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيكُمْ رَسُولًا مِّنكُمْ يَتْلُوا۟ عَلَيْكُمْ ءَايَٰتِنَا وَيُزَكِّيكُمْ وَيُعَلِّمُكُمُ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَيُعَلِّمُكُم مَّا لَمْ تَكُونُوا۟ تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿151﴾

Just as We have sent among you a messenger from yourselves reciting to you Our verses and purifying you and teaching you the Book and wisdom and teaching you that which you did not know.

We sentأَرْسَلْنَاF

A MessengerرَسُولًاI

From youمِنْكُمْCBHP+PRONATTمِنْFrom+كُمْyou / your (pl.)

Who recitesيَتْلُوF

To youعَلَيْكُمْCBHP+PRONATTعَلَىTo+كُمْyou / your (pl.)

Our versesآيَاتِنَاCBIN+PRONATTآيَاتِOur verses+نَاus / our

And purifies youوَيُزَكِّيكُمْCBFCONJ+V+PRONATTوَand+يُزَكِّيPurifies+كُمْyou / your (pl.)

And teaches youوَيُعَلِّمُكُمُCBFCONJ+V+PRONATTوَand+يُعَلِّمُTeaches+كُمُyou / your (pl.)

The BookالْكِتَابَIالthe+كِتَابَBook

And the wisdomوَالْحِكْمَةَCBICONJ+Nوَand+الthe+حِكْمَةَWisdom

And teaches youوَيُعَلِّمُكُمْCBFCONJ+V+PRONATTوَand+يُعَلِّمُTeaches+كُمْyou / your (pl.)

WhatمَاI

NotلَمْH

You wereتَكُونُواF

KnowingتَعْلَمُونَF

2:152

فَٱذْكُرُونِىٓ أَذْكُرْكُمْ وَٱشْكُرُوا۟ لِى وَلَا تَكْفُرُونِ ﴿152﴾

So remember Me; I will remember you. And be grateful to Me and do not deny Me.
