Licence and permissions

ILMHUB.org exists to help Muslims understand the Arabic of the Quran. The material here is meant to be used, not guarded.

What you may do

ILMHUB’s own material — the grammar explanations, lesson notes, exercises, model answers, course text and the design of this site — is published under a Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–ShareAlike 4.0 International licence (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).

You are free to:

  • Share it — copy, print and redistribute it in any format, for personal study or for teaching
  • Adapt it — remix and build on it, including for your own classes

Teachers, students, masjids and study circles are all welcome to use it. You do not need to ask.

On three conditions

  • Attribution — credit ILMHUB.org and Ustadh Muhammad Arjan Ali, and link back where you reasonably can
  • NonCommercial — you may not sell it, or use it in a paid product or service
  • ShareAlike — if you adapt it, share your version under this same licence

You may not present this material as your own work, or use the ILMHUB name, logo or branding. All other rights reserved.

The full legal text of the licence is at creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/.

What this licence does not cover

Some material on this site belongs to others and is used under its own terms. This licence does not extend to it:

  • English translations of the Quran, which remain the property of their translators and publishers
  • grammatical and morphological data derived from the Quranic Arabic Corpus, which is licensed under the GNU General Public Licence v3
  • the ILMHUB name, logo and brand marks, which are not licensed for reuse

The Academy is separate

Courses sold through the ILMHUB Academy are not covered by this licence.

Asking for anything else
