وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن يَقُولُ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَبِٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْءَاخِرِ وَمَا هُم بِمُؤْمِنِينَ ﴿8﴾

And of the people are some who say, "We believe in Allah and the Last Day," but they are not believers.

The peopleالنَّاسِIالthe+نَاسِPeople
Are some whoمَنْI
SayيَقُولُF
We believedآمَنَّاF
In AllahبِاللَّهِCBIP+PNبِwith / in+اللَّهِAllah
And in the dayوَبِالْيَوْمِCBICONJ+P+Nوَand+بِwith / in+الthe+يَوْمِDay
[the] lastالْآخِرِIالthe+آخِرِ[the] last
But notوَمَاCBHCONJ+NEGوَand+مَاBut not
TheyهُمْI
Are believers at allبِمُؤْمِنِينَCBIP+Nبِwith / in+مُؤْمِنِينَAre believers at all

يُخَٰدِعُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَمَا يَخْدَعُونَ إِلَّآ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ ﴿9﴾

They [think to] deceive Allah and those who believe, but they deceive not except themselves and perceive [it] not.

They deceiveيَخْدَعُونَF
ExceptإِلَّاHإِنْif=لَاnot
ThemselvesأَنْفُسَهُمْCBIN+PRONATTأَنْفُسَthemselves+هُمْthem / their
And notوَمَاCBHCONJ+NEGوَand+مَاNot
They realize itيَشْعُرُونَF

فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ فَزَادَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مَرَضًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْذِبُونَ ﴿10﴾

In their hearts is disease, so Allah has increased their disease; and for them is a painful punishment because they [habitually] used to lie.

Is a diseaseمَرَضٌI

AllahاللَّهُI
In diseaseمَرَضًاI
And for themوَلَهُمْCBHCONJ+P+PRONATTوَand+لَهُمْFor them
Is a punishmentعَذَابٌI
PainfulأَلِيمٌI
BecauseبِمَاCBIP+RELبِwith / in+مَاBecause
They used toكَانُواF
[they] lieيَكْذِبُونَF

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَا تُفْسِدُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ مُصْلِحُونَ ﴿11﴾

And when it is said to them, "Do not cause corruption on the earth," they say, "We are but reformers."

Spread corruptionتُفْسِدُواF

The earthالْأَرْضِIالthe+أَرْضِEarth
They sayقَالُواF
OnlyإِنَّمَاCBHإِنَّindeed=مَاonly
WeنَحْنُI
Are reformersمُصْلِحُونَI

أَلَآ إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْسِدُونَ وَلَٰكِن لَّا يَشْعُرُونَ ﴿12﴾

Unquestionably, it is they who are the corrupters, but they perceive [it] not.

Indeed theyإِنَّهُمْCBHACC+PRONATTإِنَّIndeed+هُمْthem / their
ThemselvesهُمُI
Are the ones who spread corruptionالْمُفْسِدُونَIالthe+مُفْسِدُونَAre the ones who spread corruption
[and] butوَلَكِنْCBHCONJ+AMDوَand+لَكِنْ[and] but
NotلَاH
They realize itيَشْعُرُونَF

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ ءَامِنُوا۟ كَمَآ ءَامَنَ ٱلنَّاسُ قَالُوٓا۟ أَنُؤْمِنُ كَمَآ ءَامَنَ ٱلسُّفَهَآءُ ۗ أَلَآ إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ ٱلسُّفَهَآءُ وَلَٰكِن لَّا يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿13﴾

And when it is said to them, "Believe as the people have believed," they say, "Should we believe as the foolish have believed?" Unquestionably, it is they who are the foolish, but they know [it] not.

The peopleالنَّاسُIالthe+نَاسُPeople
They sayقَالُواF
Should we believeأَنُؤْمِنُCBFINTG+Vأَis it? / did?+نُؤْمِنُShould we believe
AsكَمَاCBHP+SUBكَlike+مَاas
BelievedآمَنَF
The foolsالسُّفَهَاءُIالthe+سُفَهَاءُFools
BewareأَلَاHأَنْthat=لَاnot
Certainly theyإِنَّهُمْCBHACC+PRONATTإِنَّCertainly+هُمْthem / their
ThemselvesهُمُI
Are the foolsالسُّفَهَاءُIالthe+سُفَهَاءُAre the fools
[and] butوَلَكِنْCBHCONJ+AMDوَand+لَكِنْ[and] but
NotلَاH
They knowيَعْلَمُونَF

وَإِذَا لَقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا وَإِذَا خَلَوْا۟ إِلَىٰ شَيَٰطِينِهِمْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا مَعَكُمْ إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ مُسْتَهْزِءُونَ ﴿14﴾

And when they meet those who believe, they say, "We believe"; but when they are alone with their evil ones, they say, "Indeed, we are with you; we were only mockers."

Their evil onesشَيَاطِينِهِمْCBIN+PRONATTشَيَاطِينِTheir evil ones+هِمْthem / their
They sayقَالُواF
Indeed weإِنَّاCBHACC+PRONATTإِIndeed we+ناus / our
Are with youمَعَكُمْI
OnlyإِنَّمَاCBHإِنَّindeed=مَاonly
WeنَحْنُI
Are mockersمُسْتَهْزِئُونَI

ٱللَّهُ يَسْتَهْزِئُ بِهِمْ وَيَمُدُّهُمْ فِى طُغْيَٰنِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ ﴿15﴾

[But] Allah mocks them and prolongs them in their transgression [while] they wander blindly.

MocksيَسْتَهْزِئُF
At themبِهِمْCBHP+PRONATTبِwith / in+هِمْthem / their
And prolongs themوَيَمُدُّهُمْCBFCONJ+V+PRONATTوَand+يَمُدُّProlongs+هُمْthem / their
InفِيH
Their transgressionطُغْيَانِهِمْCBIN+PRONATTطُغْيَانِTheir transgression+هِمْthem / their
They wander blindlyيَعْمَهُونَF

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱشْتَرَوُا۟ ٱلضَّلَٰلَةَ بِٱلْهُدَىٰ فَمَا رَبِحَت تِّجَٰرَتُهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُهْتَدِينَ ﴿16﴾

Those are the ones who have purchased error [in exchange] for guidance, so their transaction has brought no profit, nor were they guided.

BoughtاشْتَرَوُاF
[the] astrayingالضَّلَالَةَIالthe+ضَلَالَةَ[the] astraying
For [the] guidanceبِالْهُدَىCBIP+Nبِwith / in+الthe+هُدَىFor [the] guidance
So notفَمَاCBHCONJ+NEGفَso / then+مَاNot
ProfitedرَبِحَتْF
Their commerceتِجَارَتُهُمْCBIN+PRONATTتِجَارَتُTheir commerce+هُمْthem / their
And notوَمَاCBHCONJ+NEGوَand+مَاNot
Were theyكَانُواF
Guided onesمُهْتَدِينَI

مَثَلُهُمْ كَمَثَلِ ٱلَّذِى ٱسْتَوْقَدَ نَارًا فَلَمَّآ أَضَآءَتْ مَا حَوْلَهُۥ ذَهَبَ ٱللَّهُ بِنُورِهِمْ وَتَرَكَهُمْ فِى ظُلُمَٰتٍ لَّا يُبْصِرُونَ ﴿17﴾

Their example is that of one who kindled a fire, but when it illuminated what was around him, Allah took away their light and left them in darkness [so] they could not see.

Is like the exampleكَمَثَلِCBIP+Nكَlike+مَثَلِIs like the example
Of the one whoالَّذِيI
KindledاسْتَوْقَدَF
A fireنَارًاI
Then whenفَلَمَّاCBICONJ+Tفَso / then+لَمَّاWhen
It illuminatedأَضَاءَتْF
WhatمَاI
Was around himحَوْلَهُCBILOC+PRONATTحَوْلَWas around+هُhim / his / it
Took awayذَهَبَF
AllahاللَّهُI
Their lightبِنُورِهِمْCBIP+N+PRONATTبِwith / in+نُورِTheir light+هِمْthem / their
And left themوَتَرَكَهُمْCBFCONJ+V+PRONATTوَand+تَرَكَLeft+هُمْthem / their
InفِيH
Darkness[es]ظُلُمَاتٍI
So notلَاH
Do they seeيُبْصِرُونَF

صُمٌّۢ بُكْمٌ عُمْىٌ فَهُمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ ﴿18﴾

Deaf, dumb and blind - so they will not return [to the right path].

So theyفَهُمْCBICONJ+PRONSUBJفَso / then+هُمْThey
NotلَاH
[they] will not returnيَرْجِعُونَF

أَوْ كَصَيِّبٍ مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فِيهِ ظُلُمَٰتٌ وَرَعْدٌ وَبَرْقٌ يَجْعَلُونَ أَصَٰبِعَهُمْ فِىٓ ءَاذَانِهِم مِّنَ ٱلصَّوَٰعِقِ حَذَرَ ٱلْمَوْتِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ مُحِيطٌۢ بِٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ ﴿19﴾

Or [it is] like a rainstorm from the sky within which is darkness, thunder and lightning. They put their fingers in their ears against the thunderclaps in dread of death. But Allah is encompassing of the disbelievers.

The skyالسَّمَاءِIالthe+سَمَاءِSky

Darkness[es]ظُلُمَاتٌI
And thunderوَرَعْدٌCBICONJ+Nوَand+رَعْدٌThunder
And lightningوَبَرْقٌCBICONJ+Nوَand+بَرْقٌLightning
They putيَجْعَلُونَF
Their fingersأَصَابِعَهُمْCBIN+PRONATTأَصَابِعَTheir fingers+هُمْthem / their
InفِيH
Their earsآذَانِهِمْCBIN+PRONATTآذَانِTheir ears+هِمْthem / their
FromمِنَH
The thunderclapsالصَّوَاعِقِIالthe+صَوَاعِقِThunderclaps
In fear ofحَذَرَI
[the] deathالْمَوْتِIالthe+مَوْتِ[the] death
And AllahوَاللَّهُCBICONJ+PNوَand+اللَّهُAllah
Is [the one who] encompassesمُحِيطٌI
The disbelieversبِالْكَافِرِينَCBIP+Nبِwith / in+الthe+كَافِرِينَDisbelievers

يَكَادُ ٱلْبَرْقُ يَخْطَفُ أَبْصَٰرَهُمْ ۖ كُلَّمَآ أَضَآءَ لَهُم مَّشَوْا۟ فِيهِ وَإِذَآ أَظْلَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ قَامُوا۟ ۚ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَذَهَبَ بِسَمْعِهِمْ وَأَبْصَٰرِهِمْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ ﴿20﴾

The lightning almost snatches away their sight. Every time it lights [the way] for them, they walk therein; but when darkness comes over them, they stand [still]. And if Allah had willed, He could have taken away their hearing and their sight. Indeed, Allah is over all things competent.

It darkensأَظْلَمَF
On themعَلَيْهِمْCBHP+PRONATTعَلَىOn+هِمْthem / their
They stand stillقَامُواF
And ifوَلَوْCBHCONJ+CONDوَand+لَوْIf
Had willedشَاءَF
AllahاللَّهُI
He would certainly have taken awayلَذَهَبَCBFLAM+Vلَfor / to+ذَهَبَHe would certainly have taken away
Their hearingبِسَمْعِهِمْCBIP+N+PRONATTبِwith / in+سَمْعِTheir hearing+هِمْthem / their
And their sightوَأَبْصَارِهِمْCBICONJ+N+PRONATTوَand+أَبْصَارِTheir sight+هِمْthem / their
IndeedإِنَّH
AllahاللَّهَI
Is onعَلَىH
EveryكُلِّI
ThingشَيْءٍI
All powerfulقَدِيرٌI
