Surah 9 · Ruku 9 of 16 · ayahs 67–72 · Juz 10 · pages 197–198 · Madani

ٱلْمُنَٰفِقُونَ وَٱلْمُنَٰفِقَٰتُ بَعْضُهُم مِّنۢ بَعْضٍ ۚ يَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمُنكَرِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَقْبِضُونَ أَيْدِيَهُمْ ۚ نَسُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ فَنَسِيَهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ هُمُ ٱلْفَٰسِقُونَ ﴿67﴾

The hypocrite men and hypocrite women are of one another. They enjoin what is wrong and forbid what is right and close their hands. They have forgotten Allah, so He has forgotten them [accordingly]. Indeed, the hypocrites - it is they who are the defiantly disobedient.

They enjoinيَأْمُرُونَF

The wrongبِالْمُنْكَرِCBIP+Nبِwith / in+الthe+مُنْكَرِWrong

And forbidوَيَنْهَوْنَCBFCONJ+Vوَand+يَنْهَوْنَForbid

WhatعَنِH

Is the rightالْمَعْرُوفِIالthe+مَعْرُوفِIs the right

And they closeوَيَقْبِضُونَCBFCONJ+Vوَand+يَقْبِضُونَThey close

Their handsأَيْدِيَهُمْCBIN+PRONATTأَيْدِيَTheir hands+هُمْthem / their

They forgetنَسُواF

AllahاللَّهَI

So he has forgotten themفَنَسِيَهُمْCBFCONJ+V+PRONATTفَso / then+نَسِيَHe has forgotten+هُمْthem / their

IndeedإِنَّH

The hypocritesالْمُنَافِقِينَIالthe+مُنَافِقِينَHypocrites

They areهُمُI

The defiantly disobedientالْفَاسِقُونَIالthe+فَاسِقُونَDefiantly disobedient

9:68

وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ وَٱلْمُنَٰفِقَٰتِ وَٱلْكُفَّارَ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ هِىَ حَسْبُهُمْ ۚ وَلَعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّقِيمٌ ﴿68﴾

Allah has promised the hypocrite men and hypocrite women and the disbelievers the fire of Hell, wherein they will abide eternally. It is sufficient for them. And Allah has cursed them, and for them is an enduring punishment.

Allah has promisedاللَّهُI

The hypocrite menالْمُنَافِقِينَIالthe+مُنَافِقِينَHypocrite men

And the hypocrite womenوَالْمُنَافِقَاتِCBICONJ+Nوَand+الthe+مُنَافِقَاتِHypocrite women

And the disbelieversوَالْكُفَّارَCBICONJ+Nوَand+الthe+كُفَّارَDisbelievers

FireنَارَI

Of HellجَهَنَّمَI

They will abide foreverخَالِدِينَI

In itفِيهَاCBHP+PRONATTفِيIn+هَاher / it / its

It isهِيَI

Sufficient for themحَسْبُهُمْCBIN+PRONATTحَسْبُSufficient for+هُمْthem / their

And Allah has cursed themوَلَعَنَهُمُCBFCONJ+V+PRONATTوَand+لَعَنَAllah has cursed+هُمُthem / their

And Allah has cursed themاللَّهُI

And for themوَلَهُمْCBHCONJ+P+PRONATTوَand+لَهُمْFor them

Is a punishmentعَذَابٌI

EnduringمُقِيمٌI

9:69

كَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ أَشَدَّ مِنكُمْ قُوَّةً وَأَكْثَرَ أَمْوَٰلًا وَأَوْلَٰدًا فَٱسْتَمْتَعُوا۟ بِخَلَٰقِهِمْ فَٱسْتَمْتَعْتُم بِخَلَٰقِكُمْ كَمَا ٱسْتَمْتَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُم بِخَلَٰقِهِمْ وَخُضْتُمْ كَٱلَّذِى خَاضُوٓا۟ ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَٰلُهُمْ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْءَاخِرَةِ ۖ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْخَٰسِرُونَ ﴿69﴾

[You disbelievers are] like those before you; they were stronger than you in power and more abundant in wealth and children. They enjoyed their portion [of worldly enjoyment], and you have enjoyed your portion as those before you enjoyed their portion, and you have engaged [in vanities] like that in which they engaged. [It is] those whose deeds have become worthless in this world and in the Hereafter, and it is they who are the losers.

They wereكَانُواF

MightierأَشَدَّI

Than youمِنْكُمْCBHP+PRONATTمِنْThan+كُمْyou / your (pl.)

In strengthقُوَّةًI

And more abundantوَأَكْثَرَCBICONJ+Nوَand+أَكْثَرَMore abundant

In wealthأَمْوَالًاI

And childrenوَأَوْلَادًاCBICONJ+Nوَand+أَوْلَادًاChildren

So they enjoyedفَاسْتَمْتَعُواCBFCONJ+Vفَso / then+اسْتَمْتَعُواThey enjoyed

Their portionبِخَلَاقِهِمْCBIP+N+PRONATTبِwith / in+خَلَاقِTheir portion+هِمْthem / their

And you have enjoyedفَاسْتَمْتَعْتُمْCBFCONJ+Vفَso / then+اسْتَمْتَعْتُمْAnd you have enjoyed

Your portionبِخَلَاقِكُمْCBIP+N+PRONATTبِwith / in+خَلَاقِYour portion+كُمْyou / your (pl.)

LikeكَمَاCBHP+SUBكَlike+مَاlike

EnjoyedاسْتَمْتَعَF

ThoseالَّذِينَI

Before youمِنْH

Before youقَبْلِكُمْCBIN+PRONATTقَبْلِBefore+كُمْyou / your (pl.)

Their portionبِخَلَاقِهِمْCBIP+N+PRONATTبِwith / in+خَلَاقِTheir portion+هِمْthem / their

And you indulgeوَخُضْتُمْCBFCONJ+Vوَand+خُضْتُمْYou indulge

Like the one whoكَالَّذِيCBIP+RELكَlike+الَّذِيThe one who

Indulges in idle talkخَاضُواF

ThoseأُولَئِكَI

WorthlessحَبِطَتْF

Are their deedsأَعْمَالُهُمْCBIN+PRONATTأَعْمَالُAre their deeds+هُمْthem / their

InفِيH

The worldالدُّنْيَاIالthe+دُنْيَاWorld

And in the HereafterوَالْآخِرَةِCBICONJ+Nوَand+الthe+آخِرَةِIn the Hereafter

And thoseوَأُولَئِكَCBICONJ+DEMوَand+أُولَئِكَThose

TheyهُمُI

Are the losersالْخَاسِرُونَIالthe+خَاسِرُونَAre the losers

9:70

أَلَمْ يَأْتِهِمْ نَبَأُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ وَعَادٍ وَثَمُودَ وَقَوْمِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَأَصْحَٰبِ مَدْيَنَ وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَٰتِ ۚ أَتَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ ۖ فَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيَظْلِمَهُمْ وَلَٰكِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ ﴿70﴾

Has there not reached them the news of those before them - the people of Noah and [the tribes of] 'Aad and Thamud and the people of Abraham and the companions of Madyan and the towns overturned? Their messengers came to them with clear proofs. And Allah would never have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves.

The peopleقَوْمِI

Of noahنُوحٍI

And aadوَعَادٍCBICONJ+PNوَand+عَادٍAad

And thamudوَثَمُودَCBICONJ+PNوَand+ثَمُودَThamud

And the peopleوَقَوْمِCBICONJ+Nوَand+قَوْمِThe people

Of abrahamإِبْرَاهِيمَI

And the companionsوَأَصْحَابِCBICONJ+Nوَand+أَصْحَابِThe companions

Of madyanمَدْيَنَI

And the towns overturnedوَالْمُؤْتَفِكَاتِCBICONJ+Nوَand+الthe+مُؤْتَفِكَاتِTowns overturned

Came to themأَتَتْهُمْCBFV+PRONATTأَتَتْCame to+هُمْthem / their

Their MessengersرُسُلُهُمْCBIN+PRONATTرُسُلُTheir Messengers+هُمْthem / their

With clear proofsبِالْبَيِّنَاتِCBIP+Nبِwith / in+الthe+بَيِّنَاتِClear proofs

And notفَمَاCBHCONJ+NEGفَso / then+مَاAnd not

WasكَانَF

AllahاللَّهُI

To wrong themلِيَظْلِمَهُمْCBFP+V+PRONATTلِfor / to+يَظْلِمَWrong+هُمْthem / their

ButوَلَكِنْCBHCONJ+AMDوَand+لَكِنْBut

They were toكَانُواF

ThemselvesأَنْفُسَهُمْCBIN+PRONATTأَنْفُسَthemselves+هُمْthem / their

Doing wrongيَظْلِمُونَF

9:71

وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتُ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءُ بَعْضٍ ۚ يَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَيُقِيمُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَيُطِيعُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ سَيَرْحَمُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ ﴿71﴾

The believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and establish prayer and give zakah and obey Allah and His Messenger. Those - Allah will have mercy upon them. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.

And the believing womenوَالْمُؤْمِنَاتُCBICONJ+Nوَand+الthe+مُؤْمِنَاتُBelieving women

Are alliesأَوْلِيَاءُI

Of othersبَعْضٍI

They enjoinيَأْمُرُونَF

The rightبِالْمَعْرُوفِCBIP+Nبِwith / in+الthe+مَعْرُوفِRight

And forbidوَيَنْهَوْنَCBFCONJ+Vوَand+يَنْهَوْنَForbid

FromعَنِH

The wrongالْمُنْكَرِIالthe+مُنْكَرِWrong

And they establishوَيُقِيمُونَCBFCONJ+Vوَand+يُقِيمُونَThey establish

The prayerالصَّلَاةَIالthe+صَلَاةَPrayer

And giveوَيُؤْتُونَCBFCONJ+Vوَand+يُؤْتُونَGive

The zakahالزَّكَاةَIالthe+زَكَاةَZakah

And they obeyوَيُطِيعُونَCBFCONJ+Vوَand+يُطِيعُونَThey obey

AllahاللَّهَI

And his MessengerوَرَسُولَهُCBICONJ+N+PRONATTوَand+رَسُولَHis Messenger+هُhim / his / it

ThoseأُولَئِكَI

Allah will have mercy on themسَيَرْحَمُهُمُCBFFUT+V+PRONATTسَwill+يَرْحَمُAllah will have mercy on+هُمُthem / their

Allah will have mercy on themاللَّهُI

IndeedإِنَّH

AllahاللَّهَI

Is all mightyعَزِيزٌI

All wiseحَكِيمٌI

9:72

وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا وَمَسَٰكِنَ طَيِّبَةً فِى جَنَّٰتِ عَدْنٍ ۚ وَرِضْوَٰنٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ ﴿72﴾

Allah has promised the believing men and believing women gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally, and pleasant dwellings in gardens of perpetual residence; but approval from Allah is greater. It is that which is the great attainment.

Will abide foreverخَالِدِينَI

In itفِيهَاCBHP+PRONATTفِيIn+هَاher / it / its

And dwellingsوَمَسَاكِنَCBICONJ+Nوَand+مَسَاكِنَDwellings

BlessedطَيِّبَةًI

InفِيH

GardensجَنَّاتِI

Of everlasting blissعَدْنٍI

But the pleasureوَرِضْوَانٌCBICONJ+Nوَand+رِضْوَانٌBut the pleasure

OfمِنَH

AllahاللَّهِI

Is greaterأَكْبَرُI

ThatذَلِكَI

ItهُوَI

Is the successالْفَوْزُIالthe+فَوْزُIs the success

GreatالْعَظِيمُIالthe+عَظِيمُGreat
