عَفَا ٱللَّهُ عَنكَ لِمَ أَذِنتَ لَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكَ ٱلَّذِينَ صَدَقُوا۟ وَتَعْلَمَ ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ ﴿43﴾

May Allah pardon you, [O Muhammad]; why did you give them permission [to remain behind]? [You should not have] until it was evident to you who were truthful and you knew [who were] the liars.

UntilحَتَّىH
Became evidentيَتَبَيَّنَF
To youلَكَCBHP+PRONATTلَfor / to+كَyou / your
Those whoالَّذِينَI
Were truthfulصَدَقُواF
And you knewوَتَعْلَمَCBFCONJ+Vوَand+تَعْلَمَYou knew
The liarsالْكَاذِبِينَIالthe+كَاذِبِينَLiars

لَا يَسْتَـْٔذِنُكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْءَاخِرِ أَن يُجَٰهِدُوا۟ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِٱلْمُتَّقِينَ ﴿44﴾

Those who believe in Allah and the Last Day would not ask permission of you to be excused from striving with their wealth and their lives. And Allah is Knowing of those who fear Him.

And the dayوَالْيَوْمِCBICONJ+Nوَand+الthe+يَوْمِDay
The lastالْآخِرِIالthe+آخِرِLast
ThatأَنْH
They striveيُجَاهِدُواF
With their wealthبِأَمْوَالِهِمْCBIP+N+PRONATTبِwith / in+أَمْوَالِTheir wealth+هِمْthem / their
And their livesوَأَنْفُسِهِمْCBICONJ+N+PRONATTوَand+أَنْفُسِTheir lives+هِمْthem / their
And AllahوَاللَّهُCBICONJ+PNوَand+اللَّهُAllah
Is all knowerعَلِيمٌI
Of the righteousبِالْمُتَّقِينَCBIP+Nبِwith / in+الthe+مُتَّقِينَOf the righteous

إِنَّمَا يَسْتَـْٔذِنُكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْءَاخِرِ وَٱرْتَابَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ فَهُمْ فِى رَيْبِهِمْ يَتَرَدَّدُونَ ﴿45﴾

Only those would ask permission of you who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day and whose hearts have doubted, and they, in their doubt, are hesitating.

And the dayوَالْيَوْمِCBICONJ+Nوَand+الthe+يَوْمِDay
The lastالْآخِرِIالthe+آخِرِLast
And are in doubtsوَارْتَابَتْCBFCONJ+Vوَand+ارْتَابَتْAre in doubts
Their heartsقُلُوبُهُمْCBIN+PRONATTقُلُوبُTheir hearts+هُمْthem / their
So theyفَهُمْCBICONJ+PRONSUBJفَso / then+هُمْThey
InفِيH
Their doubtsرَيْبِهِمْCBIN+PRONATTرَيْبِTheir doubts+هِمْthem / their
They waverيَتَرَدَّدُونَF

وَلَوْ أَرَادُوا۟ ٱلْخُرُوجَ لَأَعَدُّوا۟ لَهُۥ عُدَّةً وَلَٰكِن كَرِهَ ٱللَّهُ ٱنۢبِعَاثَهُمْ فَثَبَّطَهُمْ وَقِيلَ ٱقْعُدُوا۟ مَعَ ٱلْقَٰعِدِينَ ﴿46﴾

And if they had intended to go forth, they would have prepared for it [some] preparation. But Allah disliked their being sent, so He kept them back, and they were told, "Remain [behind] with those who remain."

They had wishedأَرَادُواF
To go forthالْخُرُوجَIالthe+خُرُوجَTo go forth
Surely they would have preparedلَأَعَدُّواCBFLAM+Vلَfor / to+أَعَدُّواSurely they would have prepared
For itلَهُCBHP+PRONATTلَfor / to+هُhim / his / it
Some preparationعُدَّةًI
ButوَلَكِنْCBHCONJ+AMDوَand+لَكِنْBut
Allah dislikedكَرِهَF
Allah dislikedاللَّهُI
Their being sentانْبِعَاثَهُمْCBIN+PRONATTانْبِعَاثَTheir being sent+هُمْthem / their
So he made them lag behindفَثَبَّطَهُمْCBFCONJ+V+PRONATTفَso / then+ثَبَّطَHe made them lag behind+هُمْthem / their
And it was saidوَقِيلَCBFCONJ+Vوَand+قِيلَIt was said
SitاقْعُدُواF
WithمَعَI
Those who sitالْقَاعِدِينَIالthe+قَاعِدِينَThose who sit

لَوْ خَرَجُوا۟ فِيكُم مَّا زَادُوكُمْ إِلَّا خَبَالًا وَلَأَوْضَعُوا۟ خِلَٰلَكُمْ يَبْغُونَكُمُ ٱلْفِتْنَةَ وَفِيكُمْ سَمَّٰعُونَ لَهُمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ ﴿47﴾

Had they gone forth with you, they would not have increased you except in confusion, and they would have been active among you, seeking [to cause] you fitnah. And among you are avid listeners to them. And Allah is Knowing of the wrongdoers.

ExceptإِلَّاHإِنْif=لَاnot
In confusionخَبَالًاI
And would have been activeوَلَأَوْضَعُواCBFCONJ+LAM+Vوَand+لَfor / to+أَوْضَعُواWould have been active
In your midstخِلَالَكُمْCBIN+PRONATTخِلَالَIn your midst+كُمْyou / your (pl.)
Seeking for youيَبْغُونَكُمُCBFV+PRONATTيَبْغُونَSeeking for+كُمُyou / your (pl.)
DissensionالْفِتْنَةَIالthe+فِتْنَةَDissension
And among you are someوَفِيكُمْCBHCONJ+P+PRONATTوَand+فِيكُمْAmong you are some
Who would have listenedسَمَّاعُونَI
To themلَهُمْCBHP+PRONATTلَfor / to+هُمْthem / their
And AllahوَاللَّهُCBICONJ+PNوَand+اللَّهُAllah
Is all knowerعَلِيمٌI
Of the wrongdoersبِالظَّالِمِينَCBIP+Nبِwith / in+الthe+ظَالِمِينَOf the wrongdoers

لَقَدِ ٱبْتَغَوُا۟ ٱلْفِتْنَةَ مِن قَبْلُ وَقَلَّبُوا۟ لَكَ ٱلْأُمُورَ حَتَّىٰ جَآءَ ٱلْحَقُّ وَظَهَرَ أَمْرُ ٱللَّهِ وَهُمْ كَٰرِهُونَ ﴿48﴾

They had already desired dissension before and had upset matters for you until the truth came and the ordinance of Allah appeared, while they were averse.

VerilyلَقَدِH
They had soughtابْتَغَوُاF
DissensionالْفِتْنَةَIالthe+فِتْنَةَDissension
BeforeمِنْH
BeforeقَبْلُI
And had upsetوَقَلَّبُواCBFCONJ+Vوَand+قَلَّبُواHad upset
For youلَكَCBHP+PRONATTلَfor / to+كَyou / your
The mattersالْأُمُورَIالthe+أُمُورَMatters
UntilحَتَّىH
CameجَاءَF
The truthالْحَقُّIالthe+حَقُّTruth
And became manifestوَظَهَرَCBFCONJ+Vوَand+ظَهَرَBecame manifest
The order of AllahأَمْرُI
The order of AllahاللَّهِI
While theyوَهُمْCBICONJ+PRONSUBJوَand+هُمْWhile they
Disliked itكَارِهُونَI

وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَقُولُ ٱئْذَن لِّى وَلَا تَفْتِنِّىٓ ۚ أَلَا فِى ٱلْفِتْنَةِ سَقَطُوا۟ ۗ وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحِيطَةٌۢ بِٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ ﴿49﴾

And among them is he who says, "Permit me [to remain at home] and do not put me to trial." Unquestionably, into trial they have fallen. And indeed, Hell will encompass the disbelievers.

Is he whoمَنْI
SaysيَقُولُF
Grant me leaveائْذَنْF
Grant me leaveلِيCBHP+PRONATTلِfor / to+يme / my
And do notوَلَاCBHCONJ+NEGوَand+لَاDo not
Put me to trialتَفْتِنِّيF
SurelyأَلَاHأَنْthat=لَاnot
InفِيH
The trialالْفِتْنَةِIالthe+فِتْنَةِTrial
They have fallenسَقَطُواF
And indeedوَإِنَّCBHCONJ+ACCوَand+إِنَّIndeed
HellجَهَنَّمَI
Will surely surroundلَمُحِيطَةٌCBILAM+Nلَfor / to+مُحِيطَةٌWill surely surround
The disbelieversبِالْكَافِرِينَCBIP+Nبِwith / in+الthe+كَافِرِينَDisbelievers

إِن تُصِبْكَ حَسَنَةٌ تَسُؤْهُمْ ۖ وَإِن تُصِبْكَ مُصِيبَةٌ يَقُولُوا۟ قَدْ أَخَذْنَآ أَمْرَنَا مِن قَبْلُ وَيَتَوَلَّوا۟ وَّهُمْ فَرِحُونَ ﴿50﴾

If good befalls you, it distresses them; but if disaster strikes you, they say, "We took our matter [in hand] before," and turn away while they are rejoicing.

It distresses themتَسُؤْهُمْCBFV+PRONATTتَسُؤْIt distresses+هُمْthem / their
But ifوَإِنْCBHCONJ+CONDوَand+إِنْBut if
Befalls youتُصِبْكَCBFV+PRONATTتُصِبْBefalls+كَyou / your
A calamityمُصِيبَةٌI
They sayيَقُولُواF
VerilyقَدْH
We tookأَخَذْنَاF
Our matterأَمْرَنَاCBIN+PRONATTأَمْرَOur matter+نَاus / our
BeforeمِنْH
BeforeقَبْلُI
And they turn awayوَيَتَوَلَّوْاCBFCONJ+Vوَand+يَتَوَلَّوْاThey turn away
While theyوَهُمْCBICONJ+PRONSUBJوَand+هُمْWhile they
Are rejoicingفَرِحُونَI

قُل لَّن يُصِيبَنَآ إِلَّا مَا كَتَبَ ٱللَّهُ لَنَا هُوَ مَوْلَىٰنَا ۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿51﴾

Say, "Never will we be struck except by what Allah has decreed for us; He is our protector." And upon Allah let the believers rely.

Will befall usيُصِيبَنَاCBFV+PRONATTيُصِيبَWill befall+نَاus / our
ExceptإِلَّاHإِنْif=لَاnot
WhatمَاI
Allah has decreedكَتَبَF
Allah has decreedاللَّهُI
For usلَنَاCBHP+PRONATTلَfor / to+نَاus / our
HeهُوَI
Is our protectorمَوْلَانَاCBIN+PRONATTمَوْلَاIs our protector+نَاus / our
And onوَعَلَىCBHCONJ+Pوَand+عَلَىOn
AllahاللَّهِI
[so] let the believers put their trustفَلْيَتَوَكَّلِCBFCONJ+LAM+Vفَso / then+لْfor / to+لِيَتَوَكَّلْ[so] let the believers put their trust
[so] let the believers put their trustالْمُؤْمِنُونَIالthe+مُؤْمِنُونَ[so] let the believers put their trust

قُلْ هَلْ تَرَبَّصُونَ بِنَآ إِلَّآ إِحْدَى ٱلْحُسْنَيَيْنِ ۖ وَنَحْنُ نَتَرَبَّصُ بِكُمْ أَن يُصِيبَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِعَذَابٍ مِّنْ عِندِهِۦٓ أَوْ بِأَيْدِينَا ۖ فَتَرَبَّصُوٓا۟ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّتَرَبِّصُونَ ﴿52﴾

Say, "Do you await for us except one of the two best things while we await for you that Allah will afflict you with punishment from Himself or at our hands? So wait; indeed we, along with you, are waiting."

OneإِحْدَىI
Of the two best thingsالْحُسْنَيَيْنِIالthe+حُسْنَيَيْنِOf the two best things
While weوَنَحْنُCBICONJ+PRONSUBJوَand+نَحْنُWhile we
[we] awaitنَتَرَبَّصُF
For youبِكُمْCBHP+PRONATTبِwith / in+كُمْyou / your (pl.)
ThatأَنْH
Allah will afflict youيُصِيبَكُمُCBFV+PRONATTيُصِيبَAllah will afflict+كُمُyou / your (pl.)
Allah will afflict youاللَّهُI
With a punishmentبِعَذَابٍCBIP+Nبِwith / in+عَذَابٍA punishment
FromمِنْH
[near] himعِنْدِهِCBIN+PRONATTعِنْدِ[near]+هِhim / his / it
OrأَوْH
By our handsبِأَيْدِينَاCBIP+N+PRONATTبِwith / in+أَيْدِيOur hands+نَاus / our
So waitفَتَرَبَّصُواCBFCONJ+Vفَso / then+تَرَبَّصُواWait
Indeed weإِنَّاCBHACC+PRONATTإِIndeed we+ناus / our
With youمَعَكُمْI
Are waitingمُتَرَبِّصُونَI

قُلْ أَنفِقُوا۟ طَوْعًا أَوْ كَرْهًا لَّن يُتَقَبَّلَ مِنكُمْ ۖ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا فَٰسِقِينَ ﴿53﴾

Say, "Spend willingly or unwillingly; never will it be accepted from you. Indeed, you have been a defiantly disobedient people."

Will be acceptedيُتَقَبَّلَF
From youمِنْكُمْCBHP+PRONATTمِنْFrom+كُمْyou / your (pl.)
Indeed youإِنَّكُمْCBHACC+PRONATTإِنَّIndeed+كُمْyou / your (pl.)
[you] areكُنْتُمْF
A peopleقَوْمًاI
Defiantly disobedientفَاسِقِينَI

وَمَا مَنَعَهُمْ أَن تُقْبَلَ مِنْهُمْ نَفَقَٰتُهُمْ إِلَّآ أَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَبِرَسُولِهِۦ وَلَا يَأْتُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ إِلَّا وَهُمْ كُسَالَىٰ وَلَا يُنفِقُونَ إِلَّا وَهُمْ كَٰرِهُونَ ﴿54﴾

And what prevents their expenditures from being accepted from them but that they have disbelieved in Allah and in His Messenger and that they come not to prayer except while they are lazy and that they do not spend except while they are unwilling.

Prevents themمَنَعَهُمْF
ThatأَنْH
Is acceptedتُقْبَلَF
From themمِنْهُمْCBHP+PRONATTمِنْFrom+هُمْthem / their
Their contributionsنَفَقَاتُهُمْCBIN+PRONATTنَفَقَاتُTheir contributions+هُمْthem / their
ExceptإِلَّاHإِنْif=لَاnot
That theyأَنَّهُمْCBHACC+PRONATTأَنَّThat+هُمْthem / their
DisbelieveكَفَرُواF
In AllahبِاللَّهِCBIP+PNبِwith / in+اللَّهِAllah
And in his MessengerوَبِرَسُولِهِCBICONJ+P+N+PRONATTوَand+بِwith / in+رَسُولِHis Messenger+هِhim / his / it
And notوَلَاCBHCONJ+NEGوَand+لَاNot
They comeيَأْتُونَF
To the prayerالصَّلَاةَIالthe+صَلَاةَTo the prayer
ExceptإِلَّاHإِنْif=لَاnot
While theyوَهُمْCBICONJ+PRONSUBJوَand+هُمْWhile they
Are lazyكُسَالَىI
And notوَلَاCBHCONJ+NEGوَand+لَاNot
They spendيُنْفِقُونَF
ExceptإِلَّاHإِنْif=لَاnot
While theyوَهُمْCBICONJ+PRONSUBJوَand+هُمْWhile they
Are unwillingكَارِهُونَI

فَلَا تُعْجِبْكَ أَمْوَٰلُهُمْ وَلَآ أَوْلَٰدُهُمْ ۚ إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُم بِهَا فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَتَزْهَقَ أَنفُسُهُمْ وَهُمْ كَٰفِرُونَ ﴿55﴾

So let not their wealth or their children impress you. Allah only intends to punish them through them in worldly life and that their souls should depart [at death] while they are disbelievers.

Impress youتُعْجِبْكَCBFV+PRONATTتُعْجِبْImpress+كَyou / your
Their wealthأَمْوَالُهُمْCBIN+PRONATTأَمْوَالُTheir wealth+هُمْthem / their
And notوَلَاCBHCONJ+NEGوَand+لَاNot
Their childrenأَوْلَادُهُمْCBIN+PRONATTأَوْلَادُTheir children+هُمْthem / their
OnlyإِنَّمَاCBHإِنَّindeed=مَاonly
Allah intendsيُرِيدُF
Allah intendsاللَّهُI
To punish themلِيُعَذِّبَهُمْCBFP+V+PRONATTلِfor / to+يُعَذِّبَPunish+هُمْthem / their
With itبِهَاCBHP+PRONATTبِwith / in+هَاher / it / its
InفِيH
The lifeالْحَيَاةِIالthe+حَيَاةِLife
Of the worldالدُّنْيَاIالthe+دُنْيَاOf the world
And should departوَتَزْهَقَCBFCONJ+Vوَand+تَزْهَقَShould depart
Their soulsأَنْفُسُهُمْCBIN+PRONATTأَنْفُسُTheir souls+هُمْthem / their
While theyوَهُمْCBICONJ+PRONSUBJوَand+هُمْWhile they
Are disbelieversكَافِرُونَI

وَيَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّهِ إِنَّهُمْ لَمِنكُمْ وَمَا هُم مِّنكُمْ وَلَٰكِنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ يَفْرَقُونَ ﴿56﴾

And they swear by Allah that they are from among you while they are not from among you; but they are a people who are afraid.

And they swearوَيَحْلِفُونَCBFCONJ+Vوَand+يَحْلِفُونَThey swear
By AllahبِاللَّهِCBIP+PNبِwith / in+اللَّهِAllah
Indeed theyإِنَّهُمْCBHACC+PRONATTإِنَّIndeed+هُمْthem / their
Surely are of youلَمِنْكُمْCBHLAM+P+PRONATTلَfor / to+مِنْSurely are of+كُمْyou / your (pl.)
While notوَمَاCBHCONJ+NEGوَand+مَاWhile not
TheyهُمْI
Are of youمِنْكُمْCBHP+PRONATTمِنْAre of+كُمْyou / your (pl.)
But theyوَلَكِنَّهُمْCBHCONJ+ACC+PRONATTوَand+لَكِنَّBut+هُمْthem / their
Are a peopleقَوْمٌI
Who are afraidيَفْرَقُونَF

لَوْ يَجِدُونَ مَلْجَـًٔا أَوْ مَغَٰرَٰتٍ أَوْ مُدَّخَلًا لَّوَلَّوْا۟ إِلَيْهِ وَهُمْ يَجْمَحُونَ ﴿57﴾

If they could find a refuge or some caves or any place to enter [and hide], they would turn to it while they run heedlessly.

CavesمَغَارَاتٍI
OrأَوْH
A place to enterمُدَّخَلًاI
Surely they would turnلَوَلَّوْاCBFLAM+Vلَfor / to+وَلَّوْاSurely they would turn
To itإِلَيْهِCBHP+PRONATTإِلَىTo+هِhim / his / it
And theyوَهُمْCBICONJ+PRONSUBJوَand+هُمْThey
Run wildيَجْمَحُونَF

وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَلْمِزُكَ فِى ٱلصَّدَقَٰتِ فَإِنْ أُعْطُوا۟ مِنْهَا رَضُوا۟ وَإِن لَّمْ يُعْطَوْا۟ مِنْهَآ إِذَا هُمْ يَسْخَطُونَ ﴿58﴾

And among them are some who criticize you concerning the [distribution of] charities. If they are given from them, they approve; but if they are not given from them, at once they become angry.

Criticizes youيَلْمِزُكَCBFV+PRONATTيَلْمِزُCriticizes+كَyou / your

The charitiesالصَّدَقَاتِIالthe+صَدَقَاتِCharities
Then ifفَإِنْCBHCONJ+CONDفَso / then+إِنْIf
They are givenأُعْطُواF
From itمِنْهَاCBHP+PRONATTمِنْFrom+هَاher / it / its
They are pleasedرَضُواF
But ifوَإِنْCBHCONJ+CONDوَand+إِنْBut if
NotلَمْH
They are givenيُعْطَوْاF
From itمِنْهَاCBHP+PRONATTمِنْFrom+هَاher / it / its
ThenإِذَاI
TheyهُمْI
Are enragedيَسْخَطُونَF

وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ رَضُوا۟ مَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ وَقَالُوا۟ حَسْبُنَا ٱللَّهُ سَيُؤْتِينَا ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَرَسُولُهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ رَٰغِبُونَ ﴿59﴾

If only they had been satisfied with what Allah and His Messenger gave them and said, "Sufficient for us is Allah; Allah will give us of His bounty, and [so will] His Messenger; indeed, we are desirous toward Allah," [it would have been better for them].

Turn our hopesرَاغِبُونَI
