يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَوْفُوا۟ بِٱلْعُقُودِ ۚ أُحِلَّتْ لَكُم بَهِيمَةُ ٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ إِلَّا مَا يُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ غَيْرَ مُحِلِّى ٱلصَّيْدِ وَأَنتُمْ حُرُمٌ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَحْكُمُ مَا يُرِيدُ ﴿1﴾
O you who have believed, fulfill [all] contracts. Lawful for you are the animals of grazing livestock except for that which is recited to you [in this Qur'an] - hunting not being permitted while you are in the state of ihram. Indeed, Allah ordains what He intends.

← read from right to left1O youيَاأَيُّهَاya'ayyuhaH 5The contractsبِالْعُقُودِbil-'uqudiCBIP+Nبِwith / in+الthe+عُقُودِContracts 6Are made lawfulأُحِلَّتْuhillatF 7For youلَكُمْlakumCBHP+PRONATTلَfor / to+كُمْyou / your (pl.) 8The quadrupedبَهِيمَةُbahimatuI 9Of the grazing livestockالْأَنْعَامِl-an'amiIالthe+أَنْعَامِOf the grazing livestock 10ExceptإِلَّاillaHإِنْif=لَاnot 12Is recitedيُتْلَىyutlaF 13On youعَلَيْكُمْ'alaykumCBHP+PRONATTعَلَىOn+كُمْyou / your (pl.) 15Being permittedمُحِلِّيmuhilliI 16To huntالصَّيْدِl-saydiIالthe+صَيْدِTo hunt 18Are in ihramحُرُمٌhurumunI 21DecreesيَحْكُمُyahkumuF يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تُحِلُّوا۟ شَعَٰٓئِرَ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا ٱلشَّهْرَ ٱلْحَرَامَ وَلَا ٱلْهَدْىَ وَلَا ٱلْقَلَٰٓئِدَ وَلَآ ءَآمِّينَ ٱلْبَيْتَ ٱلْحَرَامَ يَبْتَغُونَ فَضْلًا مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ وَرِضْوَٰنًا ۚ وَإِذَا حَلَلْتُمْ فَٱصْطَادُوا۟ ۚ وَلَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شَنَـَٔانُ قَوْمٍ أَن صَدُّوكُمْ عَنِ ٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ أَن تَعْتَدُوا۟ ۘ وَتَعَاوَنُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلْبِرِّ وَٱلتَّقْوَىٰ ۖ وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِ ۚ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ ﴿2﴾
O you who have believed, do not violate the rites of Allah or [the sanctity of] the sacred month or [neglect the marking of] the sacrificial animals and garlanding [them] or [violate the safety of] those coming to the Sacred House seeking bounty from their Lord and [His] approval. But when you come out of ihram, then [you may] hunt. And do not let the hatred of a people for having obstructed you from al-Masjid al-Haram lead you to transgress. And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.

← read from right to left1O youيَاأَيُّهَاya'ayyuhaH 5ViolateتُحِلُّواtuhilluF 6The ritesشَعَائِرَsha'a'iraI 9The sacred monthالشَّهْرَl-shahraIالthe+شَهْرَSacred month 10The sacred monthالْحَرَامَl-haramaIالthe+حَرَامَSacred month 12The sacrificial animalsالْهَدْيَl-hadyaIالthe+هَدْيَSacrificial animals 14The garlandedالْقَلَائِدَl-qala'idaIالthe+قَلَائِدَGarlanded 16Those comingآمِّينَamminaI 17To the sacred houseالْبَيْتَl-baytaIالthe+بَيْتَTo the sacred house 18To the sacred houseالْحَرَامَl-haramaIالthe+حَرَامَTo the sacred house 19SeekingيَبْتَغُونَyabtaghunaF 22Their LordرَبِّهِمْrabbihimCBIN+PRONATTرَبِّTheir Lord+هِمْthem / their 23And good pleasureوَرِضْوَانًاwaridwananCBICONJ+Nوَand+رِضْوَانًاGood pleasure 24And whenوَإِذَاwa-idhaCBICONJ+Tوَand+إِذَاWhen 25You come out of ihramحَلَلْتُمْhalaltumF 26Then you may huntفَاصْطَادُواfa-istaduCBFCONJ+Vفَso / then+اصْطَادُواYou may hunt 27And let not incite youوَلَاwalaCBHCONJ+NEGوَand+لَاLet not incite you 28And let not incite youيَجْرِمَنَّكُمْyajrimannakumCBFV+PRONATTيَجْرِمَAnd let not incite you+نَّemphasis+كُمْyou / your (pl.) 29The hatredشَنَآنُshana'anuI 30For a peopleقَوْمٍqawminI 32They stopped youصَدُّوكُمْsaddukumCBFV+PRONATTصَدُّوThey stopped+كُمْyou / your (pl.) 34Al masjid al haraamالْمَسْجِدِl-masjidiIالthe+مَسْجِدِAl masjid al haraam 35Al masjid al haraamالْحَرَامِl-haramiIالthe+حَرَامِAl masjid al haraam 37You commit transgressionتَعْتَدُواta'taduF 38And help one anotherوَتَعَاوَنُواwata'awanuCBFCONJ+Vوَand+تَعَاوَنُواHelp one another 40[the] righteousnessالْبِرِّl-biriIالthe+بِرِّ[the] righteousness 41And [the] pietyوَالتَّقْوَىwal-taqwaCBICONJ+Nوَand+الthe+تَقْوَى[the] piety 42But do notوَلَاwalaCBHCONJ+PROوَand+لَاBut do not 43Help one anotherتَعَاوَنُواta'awanuF 45[the] sinالْإِثْمِl-ithmiIالthe+إِثْمِ[the] sin 46And [the] transgressionوَالْعُدْوَانِwal-'udwaniCBICONJ+Nوَand+الthe+عُدْوَانِ[the] transgression 47And fearوَاتَّقُواwa-ittaquCBFCONJ+Vوَand+اتَّقُواFear 51Is severeشَدِيدُshadiduI 52In [the] punishmentالْعِقَابِl-'iqabiIالthe+عِقَابِIn [the] punishment حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْمَيْتَةُ وَٱلدَّمُ وَلَحْمُ ٱلْخِنزِيرِ وَمَآ أُهِلَّ لِغَيْرِ ٱللَّهِ بِهِۦ وَٱلْمُنْخَنِقَةُ وَٱلْمَوْقُوذَةُ وَٱلْمُتَرَدِّيَةُ وَٱلنَّطِيحَةُ وَمَآ أَكَلَ ٱلسَّبُعُ إِلَّا مَا ذَكَّيْتُمْ وَمَا ذُبِحَ عَلَى ٱلنُّصُبِ وَأَن تَسْتَقْسِمُوا۟ بِٱلْأَزْلَٰمِ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ فِسْقٌ ۗ ٱلْيَوْمَ يَئِسَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن دِينِكُمْ فَلَا تَخْشَوْهُمْ وَٱخْشَوْنِ ۚ ٱلْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِى وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ ٱلْإِسْلَٰمَ دِينًا ۚ فَمَنِ ٱضْطُرَّ فِى مَخْمَصَةٍ غَيْرَ مُتَجَانِفٍ لِّإِثْمٍ ۙ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ ﴿3﴾
Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah, and [those animals] killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the goring of horns, and those from which a wild animal has eaten, except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death], and those which are sacrificed on stone altars, and [prohibited is] that you seek decision through divining arrows. That is grave disobedience. This day those who disbelieve have despaired of [defeating] your religion; so fear them not, but fear Me. This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion. But whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin - then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

← read from right to left1Are made unlawfulحُرِّمَتْhurrimatF 2On youعَلَيْكُمُ'alaykumuCBHP+PRONATTعَلَىOn+كُمُyou / your (pl.) 3The dead animalsالْمَيْتَةُl-maytatuIالthe+مَيْتَةُDead animals 4And the bloodوَالدَّمُwal-damuCBICONJ+Nوَand+الthe+دَمُBlood 5And fleshوَلَحْمُwalahmuCBICONJ+Nوَand+لَحْمُFlesh 6Of the swineالْخِنْزِيرِl-khinziriIالthe+خِنْزِيرِOf the swine 8Has been dedicatedأُهِلَّuhillaF 9To other thanلِغَيْرِlighayriCBIP+Nلِfor / to+غَيْرِOther than 11[on it]بِهِbihiCBHP+PRONATTبِwith / in+هِhim / his / it 12And that which is strangled to deathوَالْمُنْخَنِقَةُwal-munkhaniqatuCBICONJ+Nوَand+الthe+مُنْخَنِقَةُThat which is strangled to death 13And that which is hit fatallyوَالْمَوْقُوذَةُwal-mawqudhatuCBICONJ+Nوَand+الthe+مَوْقُوذَةُThat which is hit fatally 14And that which has a fatal fallوَالْمُتَرَدِّيَةُwal-mutaradiyatuCBICONJ+Nوَand+الthe+مُتَرَدِّيَةُThat which has a fatal fall 15And that which is gored by hornsوَالنَّطِيحَةُwal-natihatuCBICONJ+Nوَand+الthe+نَطِيحَةُThat which is gored by horns 16And that whichوَمَاwamaCBICONJ+RELوَand+مَاThat which 18The wild animalالسَّبُعُl-sabu'uIالthe+سَبُعُWild animal 19ExceptإِلَّاillaHإِنْif=لَاnot 21You slaughteredذَكَّيْتُمْdhakkaytumF 23Is sacrificedذُبِحَdhubihaF 25The stone altarsالنُّصُبِl-nusubiIالthe+نُصُبِStone altars 27You seek divisionتَسْتَقْسِمُواtastaqsimuF 28By divining arrowsبِالْأَزْلَامِbil-azlamiCBIP+Nبِwith / in+الthe+أَزْلَامِDivining arrows 30Is grave disobedienceفِسْقٌfisqunI 31This dayالْيَوْمَl-yawmaIالthe+يَوْمَThis day 32Have despairedيَئِسَya'isaF 33Those whoالَّذِينَalladhinaI 34DisbelievedكَفَرُواkafaruF 36Your religionدِينِكُمْdinikumCBIN+PRONATTدِينِYour religion+كُمْyou / your (pl.) 37So do notفَلَاfalaCBHCONJ+PROفَso / then+لَاDo not 38Fear themتَخْشَوْهُمْtakhshawhumCBFV+PRONATTتَخْشَوْFear+هُمْthem / their 39But fear meوَاخْشَوْنِwa-ikhshawniCBFCONJ+V+PRONATTوَand+اخْشَوْBut fear+نِemphasis 40This dayالْيَوْمَl-yawmaIالthe+يَوْمَThis day 41I have perfectedأَكْمَلْتُakmaltuF 42For youلَكُمْlakumCBHP+PRONATTلَfor / to+كُمْyou / your (pl.) 43Your religionدِينَكُمْdinakumCBIN+PRONATTدِينَYour religion+كُمْyou / your (pl.) 44And i have completedوَأَتْمَمْتُwa-atmamtuCBFCONJ+Vوَand+أَتْمَمْتُI have completed 45Upon youعَلَيْكُمْ'alaykumCBHP+PRONATTعَلَىUpon+كُمْyou / your (pl.) 46My favorنِعْمَتِيni'matiCBIN+PRONATTنِعْمَتِMy favor+يme / my 47And i have approvedوَرَضِيتُwaradituCBFCONJ+Vوَand+رَضِيتُI have approved 48For youلَكُمُlakumuCBHP+PRONATTلَfor / to+كُمُyou / your (pl.) 49[the] islamالْإِسْلَامَl-islamaIالthe+إِسْلَامَ[the] islam 50As a religionدِينًاdinanI 51But whoeverفَمَنِfamaniCBICONJ+CONDفَso / then+مَنْBut whoever 52Is forcedاضْطُرَّudturraF 54HungerمَخْمَصَةٍmakhmasatinI 56IncliningمُتَجَانِفٍmutajanifinI 57To sinلِإِثْمٍli-ithminCBIP+Nلِfor / to+إِثْمٍSin 58Then indeedفَإِنَّfa-innaCBHCONJ+ACCفَso / then+إِنَّIndeed 60Is oft forgivingغَفُورٌghafurunI 61Most MercifulرَحِيمٌrahimunI يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ مَاذَآ أُحِلَّ لَهُمْ ۖ قُلْ أُحِلَّ لَكُمُ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتُ ۙ وَمَا عَلَّمْتُم مِّنَ ٱلْجَوَارِحِ مُكَلِّبِينَ تُعَلِّمُونَهُنَّ مِمَّا عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۖ فَكُلُوا۟ مِمَّآ أَمْسَكْنَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ ٱسْمَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ ۖ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَرِيعُ ٱلْحِسَابِ ﴿4﴾
They ask you, [O Muhammad], what has been made lawful for them. Say, "Lawful for you are [all] good foods and [game caught by] what you have trained of hunting animals which you train as Allah has taught you. So eat of what they catch for you, and mention the name of Allah upon it, and fear Allah." Indeed, Allah is swift in account.

This day [all] good foods have been made lawful, and the food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you and your food is lawful for them. And [lawful in marriage are] chaste women from among the believers and chaste women from among those who were given the Scripture before you, when you have given them their due compensation, desiring chastity, not unlawful sexual intercourse or taking [secret] lovers. And whoever denies the faith - his work has become worthless, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.
