Read in the Quran Reader

وَلَقَدْ وَصَّلْنَا لَهُمُ ٱلْقَوْلَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ ﴿51﴾

And We have [repeatedly] conveyed to them the Qur'an that they might be reminded.

Word by word

And indeedوَلَقَدْCBHCONJ+CERTوَand+لَقَدْIndeed
We have conveyedوَصَّلْنَاF
To themلَهُمُCBHP+PRONATTلَfor / to+هُمُthem / their
The wordالْقَوْلَIالthe+قَوْلَWord
So that they mayلَعَلَّهُمْCBHACC+PRONATTلَعَلَّSo that they may+هُمْthem / their
RememberيَتَذَكَّرُونَF

ٱلَّذِينَ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمُ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ مِن قَبْلِهِۦ هُم بِهِۦ يُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿52﴾

Those to whom We gave the Scripture before it - they are believers in it.

The scriptureالْكِتَابَIالthe+كِتَابَScripture

BelieveيُؤْمِنُونَF

وَإِذَا يُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦٓ إِنَّهُ ٱلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبْلِهِۦ مُسْلِمِينَ ﴿53﴾

And when it is recited to them, they say, "We have believed in it; indeed, it is the truth from our Lord. Indeed we were, [even] before it, Muslims [submitting to Allah]."

We believeآمَنَّاF

Indeed itإِنَّهُCBHACC+PRONATTإِنَّIndeed+هُhim / his / it
Is the truthالْحَقُّIالthe+حَقُّIs the truth
FromمِنْH
Our LordرَبِّنَاCBIN+PRONATTرَبِّOur Lord+نَاus / our
Indeed weإِنَّاCBHACC+PRONATTإِIndeed we+ناus / our
[we] wereكُنَّاF
Before itمِنْH
Before itقَبْلِهِCBIN+PRONATTقَبْلِBefore+هِhim / his / it
MuslimsمُسْلِمِينَI

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ يُؤْتَوْنَ أَجْرَهُم مَّرَّتَيْنِ بِمَا صَبَرُوا۟ وَيَدْرَءُونَ بِٱلْحَسَنَةِ ٱلسَّيِّئَةَ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ ﴿54﴾

Those will be given their reward twice for what they patiently endured and [because] they avert evil through good, and from what We have provided them they spend.

ThoseأُولَئِكَI
Will be givenيُؤْتَوْنَF
Their rewardأَجْرَهُمْCBIN+PRONATTأَجْرَTheir reward+هُمْthem / their
TwiceمَرَّتَيْنِI
BecauseبِمَاCBHP+SUBبِwith / in+مَاBecause
They are patientصَبَرُواF
And they repelوَيَدْرَءُونَCBFCONJ+Vوَand+يَدْرَءُونَThey repel
With goodبِالْحَسَنَةِCBIP+Nبِwith / in+الthe+حَسَنَةِGood
The evilالسَّيِّئَةَIالthe+سَيِّئَةَEvil
And from whatوَمِمَّاCBHCONJ+Pوَand+مِنfrom / of=مَاwhat
We have provided themرَزَقْنَاهُمْCBFV+PRONATTرَزَقْنَاWe have provided+هُمْthem / their
They spendيُنْفِقُونَF

وَإِذَا سَمِعُوا۟ ٱللَّغْوَ أَعْرَضُوا۟ عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا۟ لَنَآ أَعْمَٰلُنَا وَلَكُمْ أَعْمَٰلُكُمْ سَلَٰمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ لَا نَبْتَغِى ٱلْجَٰهِلِينَ ﴿55﴾

And when they hear ill speech, they turn away from it and say, "For us are our deeds, and for you are your deeds. Peace will be upon you; we seek not the ignorant."

They hearسَمِعُواF
Vain talkاللَّغْوَIالthe+لَغْوَVain talk
They turn awayأَعْرَضُواF
From itعَنْهُCBHP+PRONATTعَنْFrom+هُhim / his / it
And sayوَقَالُواCBFCONJ+Vوَand+قَالُواSay
For usلَنَاCBHP+PRONATTلَfor / to+نَاus / our
Our deedsأَعْمَالُنَاCBIN+PRONATTأَعْمَالُOur deeds+نَاus / our
And for youوَلَكُمْCBHCONJ+P+PRONATTوَand+لَكُمْFor you
Your deedsأَعْمَالُكُمْCBIN+PRONATTأَعْمَالُYour deeds+كُمْyou / your (pl.)
Peace beسَلَامٌI
On youعَلَيْكُمْCBHP+PRONATTعَلَىOn+كُمْyou / your (pl.)
NotلَاH
We seekنَبْتَغِيF
The ignorantالْجَاهِلِينَIالthe+جَاهِلِينَIgnorant

إِنَّكَ لَا تَهْدِى مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ ﴿56﴾

Indeed, [O Muhammad], you do not guide whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills. And He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided.

GuideتَهْدِيF
WhomمَنْI
You loveأَحْبَبْتَF
ButوَلَكِنَّCBHCONJ+ACCوَand+لَكِنَّBut
AllahاللَّهَI
GuidesيَهْدِيF
WhomمَنْI
He willsيَشَاءُF
And heوَهُوَCBICONJ+PRONSUBJوَand+هُوَHe
Is most knowingأَعْلَمُI
Of the guided onesبِالْمُهْتَدِينَCBIP+Nبِwith / in+الthe+مُهْتَدِينَOf the guided ones

وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِن نَّتَّبِعِ ٱلْهُدَىٰ مَعَكَ نُتَخَطَّفْ مِنْ أَرْضِنَآ ۚ أَوَلَمْ نُمَكِّن لَّهُمْ حَرَمًا ءَامِنًا يُجْبَىٰٓ إِلَيْهِ ثَمَرَٰتُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ رِّزْقًا مِّن لَّدُنَّا وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿57﴾

And they say, "If we were to follow the guidance with you, we would be swept from our land." Have we not established for them a safe sanctuary to which are brought the fruits of all things as provision from Us? But most of them do not know.

And they sayوَقَالُواCBFCONJ+Vوَand+قَالُواThey say
IfإِنْH
We followنَتَّبِعِF
The guidanceالْهُدَىIالthe+هُدَىGuidance
With youمَعَكَI
We would be sweptنُتَخَطَّفْF
FromمِنْH
Our landأَرْضِنَاCBIN+PRONATTأَرْضِOur land+نَاus / our
Have notأَوَلَمْCBHINTG+CONJ+NEGأَis it? / did?+وَand+لَمْHave not
We establishedنُمَكِّنْF
For themلَهُمْCBHP+PRONATTلَfor / to+هُمْthem / their
A sanctuaryحَرَمًاI
SecureآمِنًاI
Are broughtيُجْبَىF
To itإِلَيْهِCBHP+PRONATTإِلَىTo+هِhim / his / it
FruitsثَمَرَاتُI
Of allكُلِّI
ThingsشَيْءٍI
A provisionرِزْقًاI
FromمِنْH
UsلَدُنَّاCBILOC+PRONATTلَدُus+نَّاus / our
ButوَلَكِنَّCBHCONJ+ACCوَand+لَكِنَّBut
Most of themأَكْثَرَهُمْCBIN+PRONATTأَكْثَرَMost of+هُمْthem / their
Do notلَاH
KnowيَعْلَمُونَF

وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍۭ بَطِرَتْ مَعِيشَتَهَا ۖ فَتِلْكَ مَسَٰكِنُهُمْ لَمْ تُسْكَن مِّنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا ۖ وَكُنَّا نَحْنُ ٱلْوَٰرِثِينَ ﴿58﴾

And how many a city have We destroyed that was insolent in its [way of] living, and those are their dwellings which have not been inhabited after them except briefly. And it is We who were the inheritors.

And how manyوَكَمْCBICONJ+INTGوَand+كَمْHow many
We have destroyedأَهْلَكْنَاF
OfمِنْH
A townقَرْيَةٍI
Which exultedبَطِرَتْF
In its means of livelihoodمَعِيشَتَهَاCBIN+PRONATTمَعِيشَتَIn its means of livelihood+هَاher / it / its
And theseفَتِلْكَCBICONJ+DEMفَso / then+تِلْكَAnd these
Are their dwellingsمَسَاكِنُهُمْCBIN+PRONATTمَسَاكِنُAre their dwellings+هُمْthem / their
NotلَمْH
Have been inhabitedتُسْكَنْF
After themمِنْH
After themبَعْدِهِمْCBIN+PRONATTبَعْدِAfter+هِمْthem / their
ExceptإِلَّاHإِنْif=لَاnot
A littleقَلِيلًاI
And indeed [we]وَكُنَّاCBFCONJ+Vوَand+كُنَّاIndeed [we]
WeنَحْنُI
Are the inheritorsالْوَارِثِينَIالthe+وَارِثِينَAre the inheritors

وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ مُهْلِكَ ٱلْقُرَىٰ حَتَّىٰ يَبْعَثَ فِىٓ أُمِّهَا رَسُولًا يَتْلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰتِنَا ۚ وَمَا كُنَّا مُهْلِكِى ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ إِلَّا وَأَهْلُهَا ظَٰلِمُونَ ﴿59﴾

And never would your Lord have destroyed the cities until He had sent to their mother a messenger reciting to them Our verses. And We would not destroy the cities except while their people were wrongdoers.

Your LordرَبُّكَCBIN+PRONATTرَبُّYour Lord+كَyou / your
The one to destroyمُهْلِكَI
The townsالْقُرَىIالthe+قُرَىTowns
UntilحَتَّىH
He had sentيَبْعَثَF
InفِيH
Their mother townأُمِّهَاCBIN+PRONATTأُمِّTheir mother town+هَاher / it / its
A MessengerرَسُولًاI
RecitingيَتْلُوF
To themعَلَيْهِمْCBHP+PRONATTعَلَىTo+هِمْthem / their
Our versesآيَاتِنَاCBIN+PRONATTآيَاتِOur verses+نَاus / our
And notوَمَاCBHCONJ+NEGوَand+مَاNot
We would beكُنَّاF
The one to destroyمُهْلِكِيI
The townsالْقُرَىIالthe+قُرَىTowns
ExceptإِلَّاHإِنْif=لَاnot
While their peopleوَأَهْلُهَاCBICONJ+N+PRONATTوَand+أَهْلُWhile their people+هَاher / it / its
Were wrongdoersظَالِمُونَI

وَمَآ أُوتِيتُم مِّن شَىْءٍ فَمَتَٰعُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَزِينَتُهَا ۚ وَمَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ ۚ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ ﴿60﴾

And whatever thing you [people] have been given - it is [only for] the enjoyment of worldly life and its adornment. And what is with Allah is better and more lasting; so will you not use reason?

You have been givenأُوتِيتُمْF
FromمِنْH
ThingsشَيْءٍI
Is an enjoymentفَمَتَاعُCBICONJ+Nفَso / then+مَتَاعُIs an enjoyment
Of the lifeالْحَيَاةِIالthe+حَيَاةِOf the life
Of the worldالدُّنْيَاIالthe+دُنْيَاOf the world
And its adornmentوَزِينَتُهَاCBICONJ+N+PRONATTوَand+زِينَتُIts adornment+هَاher / it / its
And whatوَمَاCBICONJ+RELوَand+مَاWhat
Is withعِنْدَI
AllahاللَّهِI
Is betterخَيْرٌI
And more lastingوَأَبْقَىCBICONJ+Nوَand+أَبْقَىMore lasting
So will notأَفَلَاCBHINTG+CONJ+NEGأَis it? / did?+فَso / then+لَاWill not
