وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَٰلِحًا أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ فَإِذَا هُمْ فَرِيقَانِ يَخْتَصِمُونَ ﴿45﴾

And We had certainly sent to Thamud their brother Salih, [saying], "Worship Allah," and at once they were two parties conflicting.

Then beholdفَإِذَاCBICONJ+Tفَso / then+إِذَاBehold
TheyهُمْI
Became two partiesفَرِيقَانِI
QuarrelingيَخْتَصِمُونَF

قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ لِمَ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ قَبْلَ ٱلْحَسَنَةِ ۖ لَوْلَا تَسْتَغْفِرُونَ ٱللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ ﴿46﴾

He said, "O my people, why are you impatient for evil instead of good? Why do you not seek forgiveness of Allah that you may receive mercy?"

Do you seek to hastenتَسْتَعْجِلُونَF
The evilبِالسَّيِّئَةِCBIP+Nبِwith / in+الthe+سَيِّئَةِEvil
BeforeقَبْلَI
The goodالْحَسَنَةِIالthe+حَسَنَةِGood
Why notلَوْلَاH
You ask forgivenessتَسْتَغْفِرُونَF
Of AllahاللَّهَI
So that you mayلَعَلَّكُمْCBHACC+PRONATTلَعَلَّSo that you may+كُمْyou / your (pl.)
Receive mercyتُرْحَمُونَF

قَالُوا۟ ٱطَّيَّرْنَا بِكَ وَبِمَن مَّعَكَ ۚ قَالَ طَٰٓئِرُكُمْ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ تُفْتَنُونَ ﴿47﴾

They said, "We consider you a bad omen, you and those with you." He said, "Your omen is with Allah. Rather, you are a people being tested."

AllahاللَّهِI
NayبَلْH
YouأَنْتُمْI
Are a peopleقَوْمٌI
Being testedتُفْتَنُونَF

وَكَانَ فِى ٱلْمَدِينَةِ تِسْعَةُ رَهْطٍ يُفْسِدُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ ﴿48﴾

And there were in the city nine family heads causing corruption in the land and not amending [its affairs].

The cityالْمَدِينَةِIالthe+مَدِينَةِCity

Family headsرَهْطٍI
They were spreading corruptionيُفْسِدُونَF

The landالْأَرْضِIالthe+أَرْضِLand
And notوَلَاCBHCONJ+NEGوَand+لَاNot
ReformingيُصْلِحُونَF

قَالُوا۟ تَقَاسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ لَنُبَيِّتَنَّهُۥ وَأَهْلَهُۥ ثُمَّ لَنَقُولَنَّ لِوَلِيِّهِۦ مَا شَهِدْنَا مَهْلِكَ أَهْلِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَصَٰدِقُونَ ﴿49﴾

They said, "Take a mutual oath by Allah that we will kill him by night, he and his family. Then we will say to his executor, 'We did not witness the destruction of his family, and indeed, we are truthful.' "

Swear to each otherتَقَاسَمُواF
By AllahبِاللَّهِCBIP+PNبِwith / in+اللَّهِAllah
Surely we will attack him by nightلَنُبَيِّتَنَّهُCBFLAM+V+PRONATTلَfor / to+نُبَيِّتَSurely we will attack him by night+نَّemphasis+هُhim / his / it
And his familyوَأَهْلَهُCBICONJ+N+PRONATTوَand+أَهْلَHis family+هُhim / his / it
ThenثُمَّH
We will surely sayلَنَقُولَنَّCBFLAM+V+PRONATTلَfor / to+نَقُولَWe will surely say+نَّemphasis
To his heirلِوَلِيِّهِCBIP+N+PRONATTلِfor / to+وَلِيِّHis heir+هِhim / his / it
NotمَاH
We witnessedشَهِدْنَاF
The destructionمَهْلِكَI
Of his familyأَهْلِهِCBIN+PRONATTأَهْلِOf his family+هِhim / his / it
And indeed weوَإِنَّاCBHCONJ+ACC+PRONATTوَand+إِIndeed we+ناus / our
Are surely truthfulلَصَادِقُونَCBILAM+Nلَfor / to+صَادِقُونَAre surely truthful

وَمَكَرُوا۟ مَكْرًا وَمَكَرْنَا مَكْرًا وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ ﴿50﴾

And they planned a plan, and We planned a plan, while they perceived not.

Did notلَاH
PerceiveيَشْعُرُونَF

فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ مَكْرِهِمْ أَنَّا دَمَّرْنَٰهُمْ وَقَوْمَهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ ﴿51﴾

Then look how was the outcome of their plan - that We destroyed them and their people, all.

HowكَيْفَH
WasكَانَF
The endعَاقِبَةُI
Of their plotمَكْرِهِمْCBIN+PRONATTمَكْرِOf their plot+هِمْthem / their
That weأَنَّاCBHACC+PRONATTأَThat we+ناus / our
Destroyed themدَمَّرْنَاهُمْCBFV+PRONATTدَمَّرْنَاDestroyed+هُمْthem / their
And their peopleوَقَوْمَهُمْCBICONJ+N+PRONATTوَand+قَوْمَTheir people+هُمْthem / their
AllأَجْمَعِينَI

فَتِلْكَ بُيُوتُهُمْ خَاوِيَةًۢ بِمَا ظَلَمُوٓا۟ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿52﴾

So those are their houses, desolate because of the wrong they had done. Indeed in that is a sign for people who know.

Surely is a signلَآيَةًCBILAM+Nلَfor / to+آيَةًSurely is a sign
For a peopleلِقَوْمٍCBIP+Nلِfor / to+قَوْمٍA people
Who knowيَعْلَمُونَF

وَأَنجَيْنَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ يَتَّقُونَ ﴿53﴾

And We saved those who believed and used to fear Allah.

Those whoالَّذِينَI

And used toوَكَانُواCBFCONJ+Vوَand+كَانُواUsed to

وَلُوطًا إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَتَأْتُونَ ٱلْفَٰحِشَةَ وَأَنتُمْ تُبْصِرُونَ ﴿54﴾

And [mention] Lot, when he said to his people, "Do you commit immorality while you are seeing?

He saidقَالَF
To his peopleلِقَوْمِهِCBIP+N+PRONATTلِfor / to+قَوْمِHis people+هِhim / his / it
Do you commitأَتَأْتُونَCBFINTG+Vأَis it? / did?+تَأْتُونَYou commit
[the] immoralityالْفَاحِشَةَIالthe+فَاحِشَةَ[the] immorality
While youوَأَنْتُمْCBICONJ+PRONSUBJوَand+أَنْتُمْWhile you
SeeتُبْصِرُونَF

أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ ٱلرِّجَالَ شَهْوَةً مِّن دُونِ ٱلنِّسَآءِ ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ تَجْهَلُونَ ﴿55﴾

Do you indeed approach men with desire instead of women? Rather, you are a people behaving ignorantly."

NayبَلْH
YouأَنْتُمْI
Are a peopleقَوْمٌI
IgnorantتَجْهَلُونَF

فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوٓا۟ أَخْرِجُوٓا۟ ءَالَ لُوطٍ مِّن قَرْيَتِكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ أُنَاسٌ يَتَطَهَّرُونَ ﴿56﴾

But the answer of his people was not except that they said, "Expel the family of Lot from your city. Indeed, they are people who keep themselves pure."

Drive outأَخْرِجُواF
The familyآلَI
Of lotلُوطٍI
FromمِنْH
Your townقَرْيَتِكُمْCBIN+PRONATTقَرْيَتِYour town+كُمْyou / your (pl.)
Indeed theyإِنَّهُمْCBHACC+PRONATTإِنَّIndeed+هُمْthem / their
Are peopleأُنَاسٌI
Who keep cleanيَتَطَهَّرُونَF

فَأَنجَيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرْنَٰهَا مِنَ ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ ﴿57﴾

So We saved him and his family, except for his wife; We destined her to be of those who remained behind.

To be ofمِنَH
Those who remained behindالْغَابِرِينَIالthe+غَابِرِينَThose who remained behind

وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًا ۖ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ ﴿58﴾

And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned.
