اسْمُ الإِشَارَةِ مَا يَدُلُّ عَلَى مُعَيَّنٍ بِالإِشَارَةِ إِلَيْهِ، كَذَا وَذِهِ وَأُولَاءِ.

What it is

Demonstratives are the pointing words — هَذَا (this), ذَلِكَ (that), هَؤُلَاءِ (these) — used to indicate something near or far. In Arabic they are nouns in their own right and are mabni (their ending never changes), and they agree in gender and number with whatever they point to.
